When the Dark One was released from his prison, he immediately began corrupting the hearts and souls of mankind.  No one was immune to his charm, not even the Aes Sedai. The most powerful Aes Sedai, thirteen men and women of incredible skill and power, became his Chosen. Their reward was immortality, an eternal lifetime of doing the Dark One's bidding.

Each of the Chosen seek but one thing above all else: to be named Nae'blis, the one who stands above all others. Called Forsaken by the rest of the world, the names of these former Aes Sedai, eight men and five women, are used to frighten children,... and adults.
