[Edit] [Back] Journal Entry from Soldier Durant
Entry 27,
It’s been a few weeks since the arrival of the two strangers. I’m not sure I trust them but the chosen do well enough. I even heard last night that they use to be great fighters from a long time past. Probably all phooey talk any ways. This city is more of a shamble than anything else; all they ship out is sheep stuff of all things. Can’t see where the money is in a small town like this but the chosen wanted it so here we stand. Well here comes the commander, will write more when I’ve the chance.
Entry 28,
That bastard stuck me with the new stranger, the woman. Of all the dumb luck. I heard she chewed apart a few of the scouts when she arrived, I’ll be sleeping with my dagger from now on. We have a patrol tonight so I guess I’ll be seeing what she’s made of. Hope my butt doesn’t end up in a sling because of her.
Torcini was sent over to be under the command of the other stranger, said he was ordered out to the western edge of the pass and was to stay there. Hope he makes it, I’ll never get my money from him!
Entry 29,
So far so good, we left the city soon as the sun set. This woman gives me the creeps. I’ve seen some of the high command up close but never felt anything like when I get near her. Something about her makes my skill crawl. She notices everything, any mistakes and she will have you correct it immediately. Aes Sadai witch I say. She seems to be looking for something, even caught her sniffing the air like she could smell whats out there. Back to moving…my achin feet.
Entry 30,
We seem to be waiting for something now, she has us in an ambush position but I’ll never know what for, we took the city cleanly with no rebellion of any kind. Why we are out here I’ll never know…scratch that, something is coming.
Entry 31,
God save me forever thinking a single bad thought about that woman for as long as I live. She IS the devil. About 200 soldiers were making there way to Ta’Aver. There armor tells me they are from Cordimar, the port just north of the mountains. If Cordimar is allied with Ta’Aver, they are in for one hell of a disappointment. I’ve heard of the officers getting involved in a raid or attack but this woman gave me a whole new meaning to the word. We waited till the column had gotten in range then pounced. She led the attack with a scream that made my spine actually hurt! Before I could get a view as to what was happening 3 of their numbers had already fallen. When I did finally catch sight of her again…she was very much different. She stood nearly 8 feet tall and had a demonic look to her. Her eyes glowed a fiery amber that any smith would swear it was the color of his coals. I’m not sure what happened next but when she killed one of the enemy, She dropped like a stone. Laughing and howling like the devil herself I’ll never forget her words as long as I live. “FEAR ME FOR I HAVE CONQUERED!” she screamed, but it was not just her voice, it seemed like all of hell was her voice. A thousand screams rolled into one…After that she glowed as bright as the moon Forten. I’m not sure what to make of her…. but I do have to respect the power she holds…not many like her out there. Think I might like this new commander…
End of Days Entries.
